Watercolor lips or lipstick effect, what’s the difference?

The difference is in the amount of pigment implanted. Watercolor lips is a transparent technique without contour, of low density, therefore it creates a very natural image, it lasts less on the skin. The lipstick effect is achieved with greater quantity and density of the pigment for a more sophisticated image, or to correct imperfections, the contour is more defined but always the same tone as the lips.

Blurred contour

The lip profiling and blurring treatment with micropigmentation allows us to achieve the effect of more voluminous and defined lips.he procedure consists of marking the contour of the lip and blurring the color towards the center, so the final result is more subtle than if we only outlined, but we achieve a volumizing effect.

IS IT PAINFUL?

Levels of discomfort vary on each individual’s pain threshold and sensitivity. To ensure maximum comfort during the procedure, a topical anesthetic will be applied before and during your treatment. Please note, if you are on your menstrual cycle you may be more sensitive to pain. Sleep, stress and caffeine can also play a factor in pain sensitivity.

HOW LONG DO RESULTS LAST?

Semi-permanent pigments will fade over time naturally. Many different factors affect the life of the implanted pigment, such as sun exposure, skin type, general health and immediate and long term aftercare. Lips Results typically last 2-3 years or longer, before a touch-up is needed to refresh the color and shape. Frequent smokers or those with iron deficiency anemia may have results fade sooner. Results vary with each client.

WHAT WILL THE FINAL RESULT LOOK LIKE?

Bold or soft, depending on the look you are trying to achieve. Pigment will be darker, larger and crisper immediately after the procedure, but will soften and shrink slightly over the weeks that it heals.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING THE TREATMENT?

After the consultation, where the client’s expectations are discussed, a facial exam is performed, photos are taken, and a possible allergy test is taken, a day is chosen for the procedure. In addition, the client is provided to complete the necessary documents at home.
The day of the procedure:
The area is cleaned. (10 minutes.)
The design is drawn and confirmed by the customer. (20 – 40 minutes)
Application and waiting for the action of anesthesia in cream form (30 min.)
Carrying out the procedure (approximately 1.30-2.30 hours), after which the work is shown to the client and prior approval of the same. Wash. The pigment mask is applied.
Photograph the area.

HOW DO I PREPARE FOR MY TREATMENT?

  • If you are prone to cold sores, you will be required to take oral antiviral medication for 2 days prior to treatment and 3 days following to prevent any outbreaks – ie – Valacyclovir (Valtrex); a prescription can be obtained from your family doctor.
  • If you have an ideal color in mind, bring a few reference photos or desired lipstick color to your appointment.
  • Ensure you drink plenty of water and your lips are well hydrated/moisturized 1 week prior.
  • Exfoliate your lips for the week prior to your appointment at home using a drop of coconut oil and sugar to create your own scrub. Ensure you are using a lip conditioner/balm every day leading up to your appointment to ensure your skin is in optimal shape for the procedure.
  • Do not consume alcohol, caffeine or blood thinners (Aspirin, Ibuprofen, other NSAID medication, fish oil, Niacin, Vitamin E) 48 hours before your procedure, to avoid excess bleeding, which directly affects color retention.
  • Avoid sun/ tanning bed exposure for 30 days BEFORE and AFTER your procedure. As your skin exfoliates from a sunburn, it will take the tattoo pigment with it. If you show up for your appointment with a new tan or a sunburn, you will need to reschedule and will forfeit your deposit.
  • It is recommended to plan any vacations a minimum of 14 days after the procedure.
  • Vaccines/Immunizations – please ensure your cosmetic tattoo appointment is scheduled a minimum of 14 days either BEFORE or AFTER to avoid any potential immune reactions.
  • Some cosmetic procedures should be completed prior to your lip tattoo:
    – Lip fillers (4 weeks in advance)

WHAT SHOULD I DO AFTER THE PROCEDURE?

Aftercare involves not touching the area (picking, scratching, pulling) while they are healing and potentially scabbing/flaking the first 7-10 days. Avoidance of excessive sun exposure, water, perspiration (working out), skin care products, makeup and exfoliation to the area is important so pigment and healing are not disturbed. Detailed aftercare instructions will be given on the day of the appointment, as well as an aftercare kit with specific healing ointment to maintain the health and longevity of your new lips.

WHAT PIGMENTS & TOOLS DO YOU USE?

We use Spain pigments Authorized by the AEMPS (Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products), safe for the skin and are specifically formulated for permanent makeup procedures. We only use sterile, single-use needles that open in front of you.
